An announcement published on the verified Facebook page of renowned international Islamic speaker and comparative religion scholar Dr Zakir Naik has revealed that four channels under the Peace TV network are being shifted to a new satellite.

According to the announcement, the channels are being transferred from Intelsat/SES-20 to the AsiaSat 7 satellite. The network aims to improve broadcasting access for viewers across South Asia and other regions of the world.

Dr Zakir Naik, born in Mumbai, India, is a prominent Islamic speaker. His full name is Zakir Abdul Karim Naik. He holds an MBBS degree in medicine and is internationally known for his lectures on Islam and comparative religion, including discussions based on various religious scriptures. He is the founder of the Islamic Research Foundation and was involved in establishing the Peace TV network. In 2015, he received the King Faisal International Prize for his contributions to Islam.

The announcement states that four channels—Peace TV English, Peace TV Urdu, Peace TV Bangla and Peace TV Chinese—will be available through the new satellite arrangement. The network says its broadcasts are intended to reach viewers across South Asia, the Middle East, East and Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Russia and Australasia.

According to the announcement, the new satellite, AsiaSat 7, is positioned at 105.5 degrees East. To give viewers time to retune their receivers, simultaneous broadcasting through both satellites is scheduled to continue for two weeks until the end of October 2026. The notice asks viewers to retune their receivers by October 31, 2026.

The following tuning information has been provided for receiving the channels through AsiaSat 7:

Satellite: AsiaSat 7
Orbital Position: 105.5° East
Downlink Frequency: 3810.5 MHz
Transponder: C5H
Polarization: Horizontal
Band: C Band
Modulation: DVB-S2 / 8PSK
FEC: 3/4
Symbol Rate: 12.5 Msps
Video Quality: HD 1080

However, these specifications reflect the tuning details published in the announcement. Actual signal reception will depend on regional satellite coverage, dish size and alignment, and receiver compatibility.

The announcement has sparked interest among viewers in Bangladesh, who are wondering whether Peace TV will be available in the country again. As South Asia falls within the coverage region of AsiaSat 7, receiving the signal may be possible in some parts of Bangladesh with suitable equipment. However, receiving a satellite signal and having official permission to broadcast a channel in Bangladesh are two separate matters.

In July 2016, following the Holey Artisan Bakery attack in Dhaka, Bangladesh cancelled permission for the downlink of Peace TV. As a result, the channel’s transmission through the country’s cable networks was discontinued.

In August 2024, Dr Zakir Naik said that an application had been submitted to resume broadcasting Peace TV Bangla in Bangladesh. At the time, he indicated that broadcasting could resume within days or weeks if the government granted permission.

The latest announcement from the Peace TV network provides information about the satellite transition, frequency settings and distribution of its four channels. However, it does not state that broadcasting permission in Bangladesh has been reinstated.

Therefore, although Peace TV may be available through the new satellite arrangement and its signal may be receivable in Bangladesh, the official resumption of broadcasting in the country remains unconfirmed. The latest decision from the relevant government authorities will be crucial in determining whether the channel can legally return to Bangladesh.

Overall, the announcement published on Dr Zakir Naik’s verified Facebook page has brought Peace TV’s new satellite and frequency information into focus. However, viewers will have to wait for confirmation regarding government approval before the channel’s official return to Bangladesh can be established.
