The body of Bangladesh Air Force Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Souri (Tawsif Souri), who came into the spotlight for capturing the video of Sheikh Hasina fleeing the country by helicopter amid the student-led mass uprising on August 5, 2024, has been recovered from the Turag River in the capital.

After going missing on Tuesday night (October 27), the Naval Police recovered his floating body from the Turag River near Rajabari in the Uttarkhan Police Station area on Wednesday afternoon (October 28). His unusual death has raised various questions.

On August 5, 2024, Hasina fled to India aboard a helicopter in the face of the mass uprising. Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Souri, who was on duty at the time, captured the moment of the helicopter’s takeoff and her escape on camera. Later, that video spread across national and international media as well as social media platforms.

According to police and family sources, Tahsif Souri lived with his family in Sector 18, Uttara, Dhaka. On Tuesday night (October 27), he left his residence and did not return. Family members searched various places but could not find him.

The body has been sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The exact cause of his death and whether there was any criminal involvement behind the incident will become clear following the autopsy and police investigation.
