Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has said that the upcoming general election on November 29 will prove that Spain will be governed from its own country, and not from Washington, Tel Aviv, Buenos Aires, or Moscow. At the same time, he pledged to resist the influence of international far-right movements.

He made these remarks while addressing an election rally in Tarragona, Spain, on Saturday (November 7). During the speech, Sánchez highlighted his government’s foreign policy and its opposition to increasing military spending.

The Spanish Prime Minister said, “On November 29, we will tell them through our votes that Spain will be governed from Spain—not from Washington, not from Tel Aviv, not from Buenos Aires, and not from Moscow. Spain will be governed from Spain.”

He further added, “We will not allow our country to be turned into a base or a backyard for the international far-right.”

Sánchez highlighted his government’s stance against the war in Iran and the genocide in Gaza. At the same time, he reiterated his support for the establishment of a Palestinian state and for a peaceful coexistence between Israel and Palestine.

He also defended his decision to reject U.S. President Donald Trump’s call to spend 5 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on defense.

Sánchez stated that Spain will continue to prioritize education, healthcare, social services, and the pension sector.

Pledging to continue the resistance against international far-right forces, Sánchez described Spain as a “beacon” that will continue to inspire the world.
